THE FOUNDATION

For a foundation founder, it was a dream start on Wednesday, July 14, 2010, that the Schwenningen entrepreneur Joachim Spitz made: Federal Minister for Family Affairs Kristina Schröder personally presented him with the foundation certificate. That was fitting: In fact, the good work Spitz will be doing under the umbrella of the ProKids Foundation in the future falls under her department: ProKids collects money for projects that benefit needy children. Joachim Spitz has built up two local aid initiatives under the "ProKids" brand in recent years - in VS and in Rottweil - which will now be run under the umbrella of the foundation. His vision, he said yesterday, is to initiate "as many local initiatives as possible" that work independently of one another and help in a regional context. "With our foundation," said the founder, "we want to help as many children as possible." Specific projects in Villingen-Schwenningen are already planned, revealed Spitz.

ProKids will continue to finance school meals for children from needy families as before. This will of course mean a lot of effort; around 25,000 euros in donations are needed each year.

Member of the Bundestag Siegfried Kauder, who presented the foundation certificate together with Federal Minister for Family Affairs Schröder, praised the work of ProKids and described Joachim Spitz as a doer who acts instead of just talking. "It's easy to talk about volunteering, but he paid for the baby hatch," Kauder stated dryly, alluding to a large social project that was only recently completed: ProKids had put a lot of effort into installing such a hatch in Schwenningen.
