BABY CLOTHESPPE
An unwanted pregnancy can put a woman in a state of physical and mental distress. Perhaps alone and isolated, abused, raped or fearing an honour killing, affected women can find anonymous and confidential professional help in every situation to help them find a way out of their despair.
There are recognized pregnancy advice centers in the Black Forest-Baar district that offer non-judgmental, cross-denominational, anonymous advice and work with pregnant women to find solutions. The counseling session is also about finding ways to live with the decision, no matter what it turns out to be. The decisions can be very different. ProKids was convinced that a baby hatch can save lives and therefore implemented this large individual project. On the initiative of the ProKids Foundation, the hatch was installed in the Fanziskusheim at Neckarstrasse 71 in the Schwenningen district. It is the first of its kind in the region. Newborns should also have a chance at life and for the future.
The Franziskusheim, a home for children and seniors, is the right place for a baby hatch. As it is located directly on the main road, it is easy and quick to find and reach. The hatch is located to the side, so discretion is guaranteed. The baby hatch is equipped with the latest technology - as soon as it is opened and closed again, a signal informs the nursing staff at the Franziskusheim, who are on duty around the clock. This ensures that someone will take care of a newborn that is placed in the hatch immediately and at any time of day. The room is well-tempered and there is a cot available. Since 2012, the lives of 5 newborns have been saved.
