ANONYMOUS /

CONFIDENTIAL BIRTH

In the case of an anonymous birth, the delivery takes place with medical care, but without any personal information. This is intended to prevent the emergency situation in which the child and/or mother are put in life-threatening danger due to an emergency or conflict situation on the part of the mother as a result of the impending birth.

In order not to endanger the lives of mother and child, the Schwarzwald-Baar-Klinikum has decided, in consultation with the registry office and the youth welfare office, to allow an anonymous birth if the birth is imminent. In this special situation, the well-being of mother and child is also legally paramount. A flow chart has been developed for this situation. The costs of the birth are covered in advance by the clinic.

Mothers who wish to have an anonymous or confidential birth should contact the midwife on duty in the delivery room at Villingen Hospital. The child will be looked after by foster parents. The decision not to provide personal information can be reversed at any time. This means that around 3 to 4 confidential births are attended to each year.

A woman who has carried a child deserves the utmost respect – even if she wants to remain unknown to her child afterwards!
